Are we heading towards the "HUMAN" religion...
Being human: Religion: Bound to believe?
Atheism will always be a harder sell than religion, because a slew of cognitive traits predispose us to faith.
Is religion a product of our evolution? The very question makes many people, religious or otherwise, cringe, although for different reasons.
Mangal Karkhanis In Maharashtra also, we never married in same GOTRA…!!! We believed same GOTRA means same PROJANY, but there are some conditions and ways which allowed marriage in same GOTRA, also… We are HINDUS so believed, trust, respect and we follow our custom/ a tradition … Where is the problem?
Tejas Mehta
nothing much.. Just that this diktat - don't marry in your GOTRA - is out-dated, rather close to savage. Don't see anything truly Hindu in it!

the problem is in "killing the offenders"... there are many cases of happy, successful "सगोत्र" marriages in Maharashtra... how can the parents kill their own daughter?

That is true but we dont kill people for marrying in same gotra.. killing someone and issuing warnings is taking law in hand. Who the hell gives this community leaders to take law in their own hands?

"The patriotism of feeble minds incapable of thought and action is limited to praising one's ancestors and one's own people, admiring their manners, customs and institutions, and denying their manifest feelings and patent defects in their character. He only is a true patriot who, with an unprejudiced mind and with the light that God has vouchsafed ... See Moreto him, examines the manners, customs and institutions of his country, and the character of his people, fearlessly exposes the abuses and evils he may find therein, and earnestly calls upon them to reform and improve even at the risk of offending them and being stoned by them." - Dr. R. G. Bhandarkar, Convocation Address as Vice-Chancellor of University of Bombay, 1894

I totally agree with Aditya.. why so mush strongly we force ourselves to follow customs & rituals which are mere psycholgical hypothesis, or rather following wt our ancestors said is right.. we live in a world which has an open mind and eyes to understand the basic laws of nature of diffrentiating betn the good and th bad, and yes, a few basic ... See Morerituals to follow to maintain the decorum of being in society..
otherwise, we all know wts the basic true facts of living humanly are.. anything more isfor your own satisfaction...
yes, respecting elderlies feelings is imp.. but following is ur choice.

hamare hindu dharam ke sanskar agar koi jaan lega tau unhe kabhi bhi kisi mudde pae bahash karne ki jarurat nahi padegi. har hindu ka farz banata hai ki wo sanman, vishvash aur apne hindu dharam ka palan kare.......mere khayal se isme koi bhi samasya nahi hai ?

u r ryt ... if the religion is properperly understood there's no problem in anything,,, neither specifically similarly in any religion, caste, state, culture... cultures and rituals must be respected, i hope all intellectuals understand this and wt i want to say is something above and beyond all religions, customs, the basic law of nature and logical world... give respect and love without any condition, and then nature loves u, otherwise we face calamities..

'Gothra' is an identity carried by male lineage in India from time immemorial. Most people have gothra chain names traceable to Rig Vedic Rishis like 'Gowthama', 'Vasishta' 'Viswamithra' and to first sons of Vaivaswatha Manu like Angirasa & Bhrigu. Purana such as Vishnu Purana refer to individual identity through 'Gothra'. Listings of more than 250 Gothra chains have been explicitly listed. I have heard of instances of Muslims converted from Hinduism still keeping track of their 'Gothra'.

Modern DNA & genetic research has confirmed male line Y-chromosomal transference, through 8 generations in case of Thomas Jefferson. 'Gothra' in essence really stands for Y-chromosomal identity.

I hv a difft questions besides and above all, being a doctor a totally scientific question? wt is the scientific loss if we dont follow Gothra?

In today's date we are regularly listening of intercaste and interreligious marrriages, i wish to know with all respect to our religious systems and feelings, just as a topic of discussion, is there any mutation or genetic defect or else as a result, or any anolmaly anyway? i hv seen few friends doing cross caste and religious marriages, with ahppy... See More families and intelligent children... one side we talk of progress and literacy and on the other hand, our minds r still blocked... when all souls when leave the body merge into the supraconscious being that we call god by diffrent names.. why do we so hatredly diffrentiate our physical body.. just a discussion..

Thanks for supporting a truely scientific and logical thought.. Its time to follow the one 'Human' religion with the theme of 'Unconditional Love' for all, maintaining the discipline and respect for all...
Are we heading towards the "Human" Religion, or are we still the same old goat that follow what the Masters said..
